Helischool - the virtual flightschool
Special Page RTF-Heli
RTF = ready to fly, means: unpacking and flies.
Bad experience
In the package I find a helicopter, a remote control, charger and battery. Some tool is included. The enclosed instruction manual is in a foreign language and more or less a list of controls of the channel. But what do we understand normally about Exponential adjustment / Throttle curve, oder CCPM?
Also the descripiton of control movements in the 'Inverted Flight Mode' says nothing for a beginner, especially if the heli is not even "inverted" depicted, but in the 'normal flight position'...
So much to this manual.
The heli is ready to fly?
No! This model, taken from the original box, was ready for the probably last flight of his life. Here was, fortunately, in the experienced hands of the Helischool and was first inspected. The result of the short test: Not ready!
- The model is absolutely tail-heavy.
There is a lack of 60 grams of weight, which would make sure a correctly center of gravity in the field of batteries. That's almost 10 % of the total weight! A flight would be too restless for a beginner. - The error of the rotor blade tracking at the leaf tips is about 1.5 cm.
The heli vibrates at different engine speeds very strongly. - The rotorblades were screwed different tighten.
The one very loose, the other tough. This comes to violent vibrations, cause the tighten blade could not allignet itself. The loose blade turns down, shortly before standstill and the resulting imbalance raises the helicopter. - The antenna is not being assembled.
The receiving antenna is wound up on the Heli and would have few meters properly modulation! Befor the first fly, it must be stretched with the help of the plastic pipe to the vad holder and the rubber rings as far as possible from the metallic parts.
Proper preparation for flight
Focus trim
That's done quickliy with a bit plumb, a large metal screw or similar. The only important thing is, to bring that weight as far as possible to the top of the heli. With tape or cable ties you could attach it well to the battery batch. Please make sure, that the battery could not scrub! The last icing on the cake could be trim with a bit modeling clay in the tip of the canoby.
Rotor blades proberly screw
With the attached wrench, tightened the two screws to the extent, so that the blades no longer creased from alone, if the paddle stacks moved qickly. Slightly more won't hurry. But if the shaking never ending when the drives running high, you should loosen the screws a bit.
Set the running track
Flying with running track errors comes to oscillations, vibrations and imprecise control. That can be accumulate and destroy the helicopter. Nobody flies his heli with a visible running track error!
To detect the error, attached the heli with the methode of lesson 1 on the ground or table. Now turn on the transmitter, pull quite back the pitch-stick, connect the battery and let the rotor raises to the middle of the pitch. If one blade fly higher than the other, so we remember the color.
Switch off the heli, disconnect the battery.
We rotate the too high flying blade so that it's right for us.
Now deduct the marked track rod on one side of ball joint and shorten it about 2 revolutions clockwise. The plastic hooks are screwed on the track rod and so they can be finely adjust.
Now repeat the test run and trim so long, until the running track is exactly. At 1.5 cm I requires 5 revolutions.
Now works through the lessons of the Helischool, than the flying makes fun!
Tailrotor quickly defective - Help
The rear of the pinion is already defective after five flights. Symtom: The helicopter begins to rotate in a circle, and the tail rotor loses much speed during the control. Try immediately to make a soft landing and by contact with the ground take immediate all over the pitch.
Repair. This is better, even before the first flight. It keeps the pinion much longer!
- First, pinch off the battery.
- The necessary tool:
Side cutters to solve the cable ties
small, well-matching screwdriver for recessed head screws,
Superglue
Cable ties for the re-fixing of the recipient.
Remove the gyro by his place and solve the glue pads from the chassis.
Cut through the cable ties at the receiver.
- Solve eleven screws on the chassis
Remove two screws at the stern tube restraints - Cautious impress the chassis, take out the tail tube and the driveshaft
- Take the Ballbearings, glass and plastic holder distance from the shaft
- Almost pull the pinion and wet the shaft with superglue
- Immediately slide the pinion under rotary motion in his place on the actuating pin and pressing it ten seconds.
- Then put off the slide sleeves and the ballbearings. Below comes the ball bearings.
On my 36er the flat washer must be down entirely outside so that the cog flees better with the main drive wheel.
Now everything assembled again and tighten all screws with feeling - it is just soft plastic!
Do not forget to slide the belt beforehand of the wave. If it pulls in the direction of the arrow, the tail rotor must turn right around. Fine in- and outsliding, adjusted while tighten the screws belt tension. True it is, if light pressure with a screwdriver, the belt twist just 90 degrees.
Give the glue one night to cure and our helicopter is ready for use again!
Meanwhile, you can flown the lessons at the simulator can the lessons ever flown ;-)
