Helischool - the virtual flightschool
Lesson 3 - The maiden flight

"In my maiden flight, I had no idea about Helifly and no tips. How was it, that the heli bolted myself and it mades wilde attacks and it flew on everything, which is closer than 50 meter. The final crash - I felt like an awakening from a bad dream!"
No, you will not happen!
You already know movements of your Heli ago and you have also "dry" practice. You go "step by step" in the air. You should also try your insurance agent to speak, or to join the Association of Flight Model ...
Safety advice: No spectactor in flying area!
- Set your heli, with the nose to the wind, on the lawn and please send any spectators for securitiy reason away, or into the car...
- Switch on the transmitter (check)
- Push the throttle / Pitcharm to zero
- Set the rotorblades again symmetrically to the paddlebar
- Attach the flight battery and remove your own from the rotor circuit.
Breath deeply - that isn't half bad!
Go laterally behind the Heli, about 4 m distance. You see the Heli as the picture to the left. From this angle you see slightly nick and roll movements. Check roll, pitch and yaw. If everthing is okay, fasten give 25 % pitch and regard, that the rotor turned without unbalance.
Stay at 25 % engine speed and check again roll, pitch and yaw. The rotor moves easily in the controlled direction.
Now further raise the pitch until the heli will be easily. The tail stopped or drifted away sideways? You be desperate to adjust the trim! It must remain standing.
Well .. please increase the speed and take off the heli for 2 seconds off the ground. Reduced the pitch to zero and back off the helicopter.
What did the helicopter doing in the air?

- Tilted sideways - trim roll in the opposite direction.
- Tilted forward or backward - trim the nick.
- Rotated about the high-axis - trim the yaw.
- The rear floundered back and forth - fall off the gyro.

Each helicopter with clockwise rotor (seen from above) pushes basically to the left. You can not trimmed completely, we corrected in the air by a slight tilt to the right...
Repeate the caper after every trim-act.
It is impossible to trim during the flight!
If one of the trim-slider at the transmitter is far away from the center, it is essential, to adjust newly the leverage at the helicopter, to keep enough trim-play at the transmitter.
After these settings you are ready for flight. Come to lesson 4.
