Helischool - the virtual flightschool

Lesson 12 - First acrobatic flying figures...

Slowly, we gets appetite for more. The simple circle and aft flying in a plane is beautiful and good. But now we want to conquer the third dimension with our Heli 3D goes on!

Let's start with one of the favorite figures of our Helis:

The stall turn

Target of a correct stall turn it is

  • fly in horizontally
  • 90° curve upward
  • vertical flight to the top
  • Turn in the standstill period
  • vertically down
  • fly out again on approach altitude

The exercises:

  • In 5 m initial height take a speedy drive.
  • Stall turn means "turning at a standstill". The standstill can be reached by pulled the heli from the faster drive to the top.
  • Meanwhile, the pitch steadily withdrawn. Once the helicopter rises vertically, the pitch is zero. Otherwise, the rotor pushes the heli on the back.
  • The heli quickly loses his speed. Shortly before standstill start to turn the rear by 180 degree.
  • Subsequently, the heli take speed again with the nose down.
  • You control now with nod and pitch the heli on the same track aback from the turn to the horizontal take-off part.

To begin start with a flat turn:

Increase the exercise slowly to the vertical:

  • The increase in the stall-turn is the 540 ° turn. The heli turns 1.5-fold around the yaw axis.

I recommend, first time to tested in greater height, whether the tail rotor affords the rotates.

Much success in training!

Let's go to lesson 13.
